Russian Geographical Society to write a dictation. Geographic dictation: results. The participants of the dictation tell

About dictation

On November 1, 2015, for the first time in the Russian Federation, a large-scale educational action aimed at assessing the level of geographical literacy of the population took place - the first All-Russian geographical dictation. It was initiated by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Society, Vladimir Putin, and the organizer was the Russian Geographical Society.

The dictation was held in all regions of our country, at 210 specially prepared venues. The Central, Ural and Volga Federal Districts became the leaders in the number of organized sites, and among the regions- Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District (32), Tver Region (18) and Moscow (15). In terms of the number of participants in the dictation, the leaders were the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) (7026 people), Moscow (3343 people), Tver (1432 people) and Voronezh (1427 people) regions. In a number of regions, the attendance exceeded a thousand people.

How many people have written?

Anyone could take part in the dictation, regardless of age, education and field of activity. To write a dictation"offline ", came to regional sites 44 365 people. Of these, 43,567 have submitted their works for verification. Another 27,564 people took the test online on the website of the Russian Geographical Society. Thus, the total number of participants in the dictation is about 72 thousand people.

Among them are people with a wide variety of education - from general primary to postgraduate with an academic degree. According to preliminary data, the largest group of participants was holders of higher education, the smallest - persons with primary general education. Thus, the average level of education of the participants in the dictation turned out to be higher than the average for Russia.

Tasks

The dictation included 25 test tasks, which were divided into three blocks. The first consisted of tasks on knowledge of geographic concepts and terms; the second was aimed at testing knowledge about the location of geographical objects on the map; the third - on the knowledge of geographical descriptions.

One of the main principles of the campaign was anonymity. On the forms of tasks and answers, it was possible not to indicate your name. Participants were asked to write only age, occupation, relation to geography (for example, a student or teacher of a specialized university) and some other information. This information is necessary in order to assess and analyze the level of geographical knowledge of the inhabitants of our country.

Excellent, good, bad?

According to the organizers, it is too early to draw final conclusions based on the results of checking numerous works - specialists are still engaged in analytics and summarize the results.

According to preliminary statistics, there are three main categories among the participants in the dictation: schoolchildren, students and working citizens - about 30% each. The rest of the population was less than 10%. It is very pleasant that the majority of the participants in the dictation are young people who seek to test their knowledge, and further improve their level.

It is interesting that pupils of 5-9 grades answered the questions in a completely different way from pupils of 10-11 grades, while the answers of senior pupils differed little from the answers of adults. With regard to gender statistics, the average score for men is two points higher than for women.

The highest mark that could be obtained for the dictation was 100 points, the lowest - 0. Unfortunately, 100-point results were recorded far from all regions, and the total number of works that deserved the highest mark does not exceed 1%.

According to preliminary data, the average mark for dictation in Russia is only 55 points, in school terms– this is a three. It is even more sad that 48% of the protesters wrote a dictation below the average level, that is, they received a three with a minus or two. And this is against the background of the fact that a significant part of the participants identified the geography as their professional field of activity or classified themselves as active tourists.

The results of the dictation will be taken into account by the Russian Geographical Society when preparing a new concept of geographic education, which the Russian Geographical Society is developing jointly with the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia.

How do you know your result?

Find out your personal result of the participants in the dictation who performed it "offline", can be based on a unique identification number obtained at the sites.

The participants of the dictation tell

Olga, student of a technical university, Moscow

- Many tasks seemed difficult to me. Because of the questions, as they say, "on knowledge" I was not very upset - well, I don’t know the name of the city located in the Pacific Ocean basin, in which the Sukhoi Superjet 100 passenger plane is produced! But the stupor on the question about the scale of the map unsettled me ( Ed .: we are talking about this question: "On a map with a scale of 1:10 000, the distance between points is 10 cm. What distance (in kilometers) on the ground does this correspond to?" Correct answer: 1 kilometer. Answers received: 100, 1000, 100 000 km). Really embarrassing to stumble on this! Now I sit here, refreshing the cartography.

Maxim, engineer, Vologda

- I consider myself an educated person, so it was unpleasant to learn that, for example, I do not know the northernmost mainland point of our country and the name of the highest active volcano in Russia ... (Ed .: Cape Chelyuskin and Klyuchevskaya Sopka).

Valery Viktorovich, builder, pensioner

- I would like to draw your attention to an important social aspect related to the distribution of printed questions to the participants of the dictation. It was this circumstance that allowed me, and possibly many other people with visual or hearing impairments, to become participants in the full-time dictation.

I am 76 years old. Disabled person of the 2nd group. In 2004 he suffered an ischemic stroke. Even with a hearing aid, it is sometimes very difficult to make out the words of the lecturer in the audience, which is why I do not participate in public events. Before getting acquainted with the Regulations on full-time dictation, I considered the only possible form of participation for myself to be testing via the Internet. I received the news of the printed matter with delight. THANKS! This allowed me to take part in the dictation in person.

Andrey, schoolboy (11th grade), Moscow region

- I came to the dictation just for the company with friends, but as a result I didn’t regret it. I was hooked on the question about the climber with the watch, I could not answer it. I came home, figured it out, and it was interesting ( Ed .: we are talking about this question: "What is the date and time on the clock of a tourist climbing to the top of Elbrus, when his friend, resting on the shores of Peter the Great Bay, is on the clock at 5 am on May 1?" Correct answer: April 30, 22:00).

Alla, employee, Nizhny Novgorod

- I have not answered most of the questions….

Yuri, student of a humanitarian university, Moscow

- Difficulties were caused by questions related to geographic concepts and phenomena. For example, a manifestation of a global scale, which is distributed over 60% of the territory of Russia and is most widely represented in Eastern Siberia and Transbaikalia ... (Ed .: permafrost).

Among the issues that caused serious difficulties were the following:

- Name the phenomenon of a global scale, which is widespread on 60% of the territory of Russia. It is most widely represented in Eastern Siberia and Transbaikalia. The greatest depth of the spread of this phenomenon (1370 m) is noted in the upper reaches of the Vilyui River in Yakutia.

(Correct answer: permafrost. Acceptable answer: permafrost)

Responses received: snow, flooding, floods, northern lights, earthquakes, nuggets.

- Name the extreme northern mainland point of Russia.

(Correct answer: Cape Chelyuskin)

Answers received: Cape North, Cape of Good Hope, Cape Dezhnev, Cape Fligeli, Lomonosov archipelago.

- What is the largest constituent entity of the Russian Federation in terms of area, in which the easternmost of the peoples of the Turkic language group lives?

(Correct answer: Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)

Responses received: Nanai Autonomous Region.

- Name the only river flowing from Lake Baikal.

(Correct answer: Angara river)

Answers received: Ob, Indigarka (correct: IndigIrka), Irtysh, Selenga, Lena.

- Name the mountain system within which the wettest (in terms of average annual precipitation) territory in Russia is located.

(Correct answer: Greater Caucasus)

Zd Equal, dear guests, friends, colleagues!

All-Russian geographical dictationstarted on November 1, 2015 at 12:00 local time in all regions of the country. This large-scale educational campaign is being held for the first time by the Russian Geographical Society, and anyone, regardless of age and education, could participate in it.

A little about the dictation itself ...
The initiative to hold the dictation was made by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Society Vladimir Putin at the XV Congress of the Russian Geographical Society. The idea received wide public support - the Russian Geographical Society received hundreds of appeals from ordinary people wishing to write a dictation. Also, the educational action was supported by the federal media.

One of the main principles of the All-Russian action is anonymity. On the forms of tasks and answers, you can indicate your real name or nickname. Each participant will receive a unique identification number by which he can find out his personal result on December 10 at rgo.ru.

The works of the Russians will be checked only by professional teachers-geographers.
The dictation will allow assessing the level of geographical knowledge of all categories of citizens of our country and will draw attention to the problem of geographical literacy. According to the results of the all-Russian test of knowledge, changes will be made to educational programs in geography.
The theme of the dictation in 2015 is “My country is Russia”.

Right there, on the Russian Geographical Society website, there wasDictation regulation... After reading it carefully, I highlighted several of the most important points:

- motivation of various segments of the population to study the geography of their native country, the knowledge of which is an integral part of an educated person;
- development of recommendations for improving the quality of geographic education.

5.2. The Dictation text includes25 test tasksand consists of three parts:
- Part 1 - tasks on the knowledge of geographical concepts and terms;
- Part 2 - tasks for knowing the location of geographic objects on the map;
- Part 3 - geographical descriptions.

5.3. The Dictation text includes open and closed questions.

Online testing

For those who, for some reason, could not take part in the dictation at the RGS sites, online testing was carried out on the portal. Those who decided to try their hand at online were less fortunate than those who took part in the "live" dictation: the large educational campaign, which we had been preparing so enthusiastically and seriously for so long, took on a different scenario. We, who are well aware that in recent years, schools have given little attention to geography, to put it delicately, not the closest attention, and we could not think that it is so much in demand, and the number of those wishing to assess their geographical literacy will many times exceed our expectations!

Unfortunately, the server of the Russian Geographical Society could not withstand such a load (which, in fairness, we note, happens with much larger, technically equipped organizations). On the one hand, this is, of course, very sad. But on the other ...

Yes, all of us - both the organizers and, most importantly, the participants - are offended that the country's first geographical dictation did not go as planned. However, the fact that so many people have responded to the "geographical call" that there is a genuine interest in geography in society did not give us a chance to give up. And he clearly showed that everything we do is not in vain.

In the end, the problem was solved, and those who were not indifferent to geography were able to write a dictation. More than 27 thousand people took part in it.

Thanks to everyone who treated the situation with understanding and patience and did not give up in the face of temporary difficulties!

Questions for the online test were combined from those tasks that were distributed to visitors to offline sites. We bring to your attention questions and answers online testing on.

On November 26, 2017, the third Geographical Dictation was held in all regions of our country and abroad. The project participants were more than 260 thousand people. Their knowledge was tested not only by the whole of Russia, but also by many foreign countries. The action took place in 25 states. In addition, if last year Dictation was written on 1,464 sites, then in 2017 there were 2,224!

China became the leader in terms of the number of educational events among foreign countries, where the dictation was held in 10 cities at once. The largest platform abroad in terms of the number of seats turned out to be the branch of the Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov in the city of Baku, where more than 800 participants could write the dictation.

In Russia, the leader in terms of the number of venues was the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), where the Dictation was held in 277 organizations. The second place belongs to the Republic of Bashkortostan - 209 sites, the third - to the Krasnodar Territory - 122.

One of the most unusual areas of the action was the research vessel "Akademik Fedorov" of the Russian Antarctic Expedition, which was in the Cape Town roadstead. The dictation was also written on the atomic icebreaker "Lenin", which is currently a museum in Murmansk. Also, more than ten nature reserves and national parks, museums of Soviet gaming machines in Moscow and St. Petersburg, the All-Russian Children's Center "Smena" in the Krasnodar Territory, the Big Planetarium in Novosibirsk took part in the educational action. In addition, the Dictation was held on the Strizh trains Nizhny Novgorod - Moscow and Moscow - Berlin.

The central venue for the Dictation was the Main Building of the Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov. Here, as well as last year, the President of the Russian Geographical Society Sergei Shoigu, along with all the participants, answered the questions of the Dictation. The action was also attended by the rector of the Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov Viktor Sadovnichy, Honorary President of the Russian Geographical Society Vladimir Kotlyakov, TV presenter Nikolai Drozdov, film director, actor Vladimir Menshov, famous hockey player Vyacheslav Fetisov, politician Sergei Mironov, author and host of the program "Dialogues about Animals" Ivan Zatevakhin, bobsled athlete Dmitry Trun, Olympic champion and other famous people.

Test questions included 30 items, divided into three blocks. The first consisted of questions on the knowledge of geographic concepts and terms. The second was aimed at testing the ability to work with the map. The third one is to determine geographical objects from the records of travelers' diaries and excerpts from works of art.

One of the main principles of Dictation is anonymity. You do not need to indicate your name on the task and answer forms. Participants are asked to write only age, occupation, relation to geography (for example, a student or teacher of a specialized university) and some other information.

The highest mark that can be obtained for a dictation is 100 points.

For those who could not come to the sites, an online dictation was organized on the site. It started on November 26 at 14:00 Moscow time and ended at 14:00 on November 30, 2017 Moscow time. It was attended by about 110,000 people.

The participants of the Dictation who performed it in person can find out their personal result on the website using a unique identification number obtained at the sites. Those who took the Dictation online saw the result immediately after answering the questions.

Based on the results of the action, an analytical report will be prepared with an assessment of the level of geographical literacy of the population of Russia as a whole and its individual age groups, the results of the Dictation in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation and abroad.
