How to become a professional artist. Why are breakfast cereals harmful?

To become an artist, you don't have to be schizophrenic, like Van Gogh, or walk with an anteater on a leash, like Salvador Dali. A little talent, love for beauty and desire is enough. Therefore, let us tell you, as artists - to an artist: even if you can only draw abstract rockets that resemble something else, you still have a chance to exhibit at least in a glass-room in Zyuzino. The main thing is to study, study and study again.

To write this article, we consulted with professional artists who manage to sell their paintings and earn talent. Yes, they do exist. So, if you want to become an artist, you can safely trust what you have written.

1. Learn the basics

It all starts with general basics. If you've attended art school, then you just need to brush up on them. If acquaintance with the brush begins right here and now, then it would be nice to enroll in fine arts courses (or at least find online lessons), read books, listen to audio courses.

Drawing is not dipping a brush and wiping it on the canvas. You need to be able to mix paints, know what a color scale, shadow, primary and secondary colors are, and figure out proportions. These are not just general rules, it will make your job easier. In addition, you must know what tools are needed to create in one direction or another.

Then, when you decide on the style, you will have to carefully begin to study it. Again, not in order to imitate, but solely for the sake of borrowing some nuances and secrets.

2. Do not get hung up on studying one direction

Many experienced artists have weak points. For example, one can perfectly draw still lifes, but his human anatomy is at the level of Soviet puppet films. You can learn a lot by improving your basic knowledge and skills, and become not just a generalist, but a master.

Expand your horizons. Discover other directions, styles, cultures and times of art. Try to put everything into practice. A narrow vision turns the artist into a gray mass, which is unable to go beyond the established templates. Finally, try mixing different styles and directions. It will be more interesting for yourself.

3. Explore all kinds of fine arts

They say that a real artist should know about all the nuances of fine art. Not only how to paint with paints and oils, but also how to understand sculpture. Therefore, it will be a plus if you learn to work with a pencil, and crayons, and charcoal, and watercolor, and oil, and in addition, you will learn how to work with clay or at least plasticine. We are not talking about the tree, but we will give a hint. A real artist must be able to turn absolutely everything into art.

4. Work daily

Work, work and work again. Because a real artist must become a master, not a painter shaking with excitement, who works according to templates. You need to develop your own style, to extract your zest from the depths of imitation, unless, of course, you lose hope of becoming famous like Nikas Safronov and memorable like Nikolai Kopeikin. Draw, translate paper, canvases, paints, pencils, do not skimp on developing your talent. Expensive? - all you need is a computer and money to pay for electricity.

Spend at least half an hour a day on your favorite hobby. Inspiration is a capricious thing - it doesn't always come, often at the wrong moments. In rare cases, an image or a plot comes to us almost ready-made. As a rule, everything comes in crumbs, in separate fragments. And what to do in this case? Continue to work, overcome all difficulties and build a creative life piece by piece, day after day.

A familiar artist, in cases where there are no ideas or inspiration, recommends painting a view from the window, a fight of alcoholics in the yard, or, at worst, try to capture the pattern of the five-story building in his own way, opposite. It's just that a person lives in the center of St. Petersburg - it's easier for him to find beauty.

5. To become an artist, you need to learn from the greats

The artist is obliged to study the work of already established masters. Students of the Academy of Arts are therefore taken to the Hermitage - so that the children study. No Hermitage - other museums and art albums to help. Carefully peer into the smallest facets of the works of artists of past eras, who have immortalized their own names in art. Copying for educational purposes is encouraged. In imitative - already despised.

6. Try to create something new

On the one hand, you need to hone your skills, trying to achieve perfection in painting butterflies. To do this, you need to hone the skill with daily exercises. But one day you will have to choose slightly different priorities in your career. If you want to become an artist who will be recognized, find a way to create something that was not there before and offer it to the world. Some have painted nymphs in an academic style all their lives, but they remain out of work, despite their talent.

The search for a new one is difficult and requires painstaking work. Perhaps what you create today will be a complete failure, or, on the contrary, a masterpiece. Either way, you won't know until you try.

7. Don't hide your paintings from the world

An artist who creates but does not show his masterpieces to the world can only count on posthumous fame. It is necessary not only to create, but also to bring it out into the light. A true artist is not just a creator and angel of art, he is also a supplier. Even if you create exclusively for yourself, it will not be superfluous to show off your talent to the world. In the end, the girls who paint the plates beautifully learned how to benefit from their talent, and so will you.

Many are confused by criticism. Good God, don't let some mediocre bastard ruin your self-esteem. You put so much emotion, time, energy into the picture - and all in order to hide the product of your talent in a dark closet? Sorry, but this is stupid. Especially now, in the days of social media. It doesn't have to be a masterpiece or even complete. You can simply post a report on your work on a masterpiece called "Whores in Gelendzhik" on the blog. It may seem insignificant, but the more often you do it, the easier it will be to deal with criticism and, most importantly, to understand in which direction to go.

8. Enjoy criticism

A few more words about criticism. An artist who lives surrounded by people will always receive comments about his work. If he cannot accept criticism, then which artist is he? Therefore, any comments - both negative and positive - are necessary for the development and growth of the creative unit. Criticize - shake it off, and do not take it as an attempt to hurt the ego. And if you are a beginner creator, then listen carefully. Suddenly you learn something.

With all this, you should not give up your style, your ideas. Firstly, you cannot please everyone: someone loves the avant-garde, and someone loves Shishkin's paintings. Secondly, by listening to everyone, you will lose your individuality.

9. Communicate more with your own kind

You need to keep in touch not only with the outside world, but also with other artists. These, in turn, are comrades who can suggest something, teach something, comment on your work with a fresh professional look. Attending workshops is a great way to see how art lives and where art is developing. In the end, a get-together is always a get-together, thanks to such communication - even with the "right" people - you will have a better chance of getting to exhibitions or finding a buyer for your painting.

10. Do not get hung up, create for your own pleasure

Your job is to just create, share, and then move on. You can't stop at one job and think about whether it can be improved. You can't constantly reflect and worry about how the audience will react to it. Trying to sit down and create something that the audience will definitely love and appreciate is the surest path to creative stagnation. You cannot create to please the public, otherwise it is not art, but commerce.

11. Follow the fashion

Do not under any circumstances think that we are running into painting. For us personally, the pinnacle of talent is almost a photographic image of the surrounding reality. We're so old-fashioned that we love painstaking, detailed depictions of potholes in plaster, human expressions and the natural rampage of nature. We look at two straight lines on a white canvas as an attempt to deceive and pass off a lack of talent as art. In general, we love it when talent is visible on the canvas. Alas, this is not in vogue. It is in vogue to put on glitter, paint a rainbow and name the picture pretentiously, for example, "Lamentations of Moses." Good or bad - God knows. But it is absolutely certain that this opens up new opportunities to be realized in art.

12. Learn to look at the world like an artist

The artist sees the world as the subject of a painting. Great talent - to see in ordinary cityscapes or commonplace things something worthy of capture. Therefore, someone sees in a stunted tree surrounded by houses just a trunk with leaves, and someone - a symbol of hope.

We must look not only through the prism of allegories and metaphors, capturing hidden meanings in our works. What if you become a painter? Then it would be nice to learn to see the beautiful in simple things. Even an ordinary traffic jam or a banal sunset, with the proper skill, become masterpieces.

13. No need to copy reality - portray the world as you see it

To capture the world as it is, you need a camera. Gone are the days when paintings were almost the only document documenting the era and the past.

The artist can stylize, emphasize, idealize, create abstractions and surrealism. It is a sin not to take advantage of this.

But sometimes it is really nicer to look at a footprint than a dry, boring, lifeless painting painted under Monet. There is more expression and life in this foot, it is really mesmerizing. You can work in this direction, known as photorealism, but what kind of creativity is there? It is more interesting for people to find the trail of an artist than to look at the next picture in the style of “how everyone is doing”.

Know, my dear reader, that you are not the first to take this path and you are trying to succeed. Throughout the existence of mankind, information about the laws of life has been recorded and passed down from generation to generation, so that we do not reinvent the wheel every time.

Use this secret knowledge, accumulated by hard work and time-tested! Study, analyze and draw conclusions!

I think after such an epic introduction, you can start the story. 10 tips for becoming great:

1. Do not judge by yourself!

There is a saying "everyone judges according to his licentiousness." Yes, you can't argue here, life shows that most people evaluate what is happening around only on the basis of their own and, as it seems to them, correct opinion.

Our task is not to be like everyone else. All great people have been accused of dissent. They allegedly contradicted the laws of logic, stepping over their principles and striving to create an ideal. Constantly dissatisfied with their work, the creators create such work that absolutely everyone likes.

Output:

The pros do their job in such a way that the majority evaluate positively. The Amator does the job and tries to get everyone to appreciate it.

2. Level up with the best!

Study the biographies of famous people. Compare with yourself and analyze. All the conditions have already been created for this, it remains only to take them. I recommend starting by examining Wikipedia's descriptions of great artists.

Note that they don't write about ordinary people there! Only because there is nothing to say about them. They did not achieve success, did not create masterpieces of art, did not change the world. Their life is boring and gray (well, it can be diluted with petty pranks in the form of drinking in a bar, or buying a new phone with touch controls). What can you write about this?

Output:

Stop being afraid to be lonely at the height of fame. In fact, you will not be alone there, there are many like you! And move forward with them, leaving behind everyone whose thoughts are not about eternal, but about the increase in wages in the next quarter.

Your personal opinion is very valuable. So valuable that I highly recommend keeping it with you and not sharing it with anyone! What I mean? I'll explain now. When I painted the picture, I decided to show it to several people. But I acted like a “simple” person and showed those who were closer, instead of consulting with experts.

What came of it? I've heard 10 absolutely identical opinions consisting of the same sentences. Namely: " I like" or " well done, not bad". What can people say about creativity who do not know the process of creating a picture itself? Even if one of my friends read about it and will give out a couple of smart sentences like:

« Yes, not bad, here I see the flavor, you play well with colors, but here I would add some bright colors»

« No, you know the drawing is bad, the color transition is not natural, you are still studying and studying» —

Will this be an objective assessment of my work? And it makes no sense to prove to them that they are right or not.

Firstly, it will not change anything, because as we already know from the first advice, all people judge by themselves. And secondly, if they disagree with my opinion, a conflict may mature. As a result, I will lose not only a good mood, but also the desire to create, peace of mind, perhaps even a friend. Is this what we wanted? No! That's why respect other people's opinions!

The one who looks like the viewer has the right to criticize and praise. If your goal is to get a comment on your work, it is better to contact a professional, or to a drawing colleague. He will not only understand you, but also tell you how to do it better, because he knows the process of drawing from the middle.

Never be offended by insults from the majority: if the monkeys have learned to talk, this does not mean that they are telling the truth.

Output:

It is better to listen to criticism about your work from people knowing the drawing process... And leave all the other comments to their owners, treat them with patience, because they do not know even a drop of what is needed to create a masterpiece. You better tell them " thanks"For spending your time contemplating your canvas.

You, my reader, like no one else know what it means " creative torment". Auntie's muse is capricious. You have to run after her, she needs to be liked. Otherwise, she will not pay attention to you. We must use each one to get the most out of ourselves. If you disdain and wait for a better moment, it may not come anymore. What do we spend our time on? If not on yourself, then on others around you.

And what can those around you give you? They flash before your eyes with their problems, their lives. They are not at all interested in what you are doing, what creativity means. They are interested in where to buy cheaper and sell more expensive. (Although someone also calls this art, so the question is still controversial). What are they doing? What else interests them:

  • Who will be the next president;
  • When will the salary be increased;
  • Why did the utility bills increase;
  • Go have a beer and watch a zombie box;

This list can be continued endlessly. Where is creativity here? Do they create something? No, this is the commonplace thinking of the crowd. Animal existence. Striving to create " beautiful"They are not interested in their own hands. Do you want to be like everyone else?

Output:

Strive to communicate with people who have more experience and knowledge than you. The usual everyday problems of strangers can only be interested in courtesy by asking “ how are you"Or the like.

Let other people's everyday problems not become priorities in life for you, and a reason for discussion. Go deeper into yourself and get better!

"If I stop, I will die"

A. Mironov

This may seem like a controversial question, but now I will try to explain what I mean. In the process of working on yourself, you will learn many things that have not been available until now. Perhaps due to limited information, or from their own laziness. This is not the point. It is important to remember: no matter how much you try to achieve perfection, there will always be an opportunity " add a little more". Moving constantly forward on small steps, you will reach heights inaccessible to the ordinary mind.

If you want to stop, never say " I have reached perfection, it won't be better". Take a break and take on what you love with renewed vigor. In ancient times, it was believed that the earth was flat and supported by three whales. How are things today? Could our ancestors have thought that in just a couple of hundred years we will use nanotechnology, create microprocessors and clone living beings? There are no boundaries for perfection!

Output:

Look for new ways of development. Don't get hung up, don't suffer from bullshit! You can always take much more than you are given. (They are trying to hide information from humanity, because everyone cannot be artists, someone has to stand at the machine.)

It's not over yet! We are already halfway to the secret knowledge.

Attention!

At the end of this part, I want to start one game! Our site is visited by a lot of people interested in drawing. I am very interested in how many “pros” artists and “amateurs” - who like to paint - are there. I suggest you find it out right now!

  • If you are super drawing and consider yourself an artist, put in the comments +1 Artist!
  • If you just love to draw - put +1 Amator!

The rules are simple, each next participant puts the number more on unit... The second writes artist +2 third: artist +3 and so on, similarly with amateurs. I will begin! Go!

Most represent the world of artists as deep, full of exciting events and emotions and, despite all the artist's internal disputes with himself, relatively serene and simple. But few people understand that behind the bewitching pictures and the general illusion of an easy life there are hours of hard and painstaking work. Even the greatest masters of the arts could not boast of the ability to quickly and easily create a masterpiece. And none of them began to create great pictures just by taking a brush or pencil in their hand.

It is widely believed that everyone can learn to draw. And it is true. But only a person who knows how to draw but does not have talent is unlikely to become an outstanding artist. Therefore, we can say that the first and main quality that you should have is talent.

And if you believe that you are the owner of such a gift, and that you have creativity, then let's get to the point.

1. Find courses

Many now, after reading this paragraph, sneer haughtily, thinking, they say, today and so there is a mass of materials from which I myself / myself can learn. But we advise you to reduce your arrogance a little and heed this advice.

Nobody argues that today the Internet gives us the opportunity to learn literally everything. But for a novice artist, it is very important that his work is watched by a professional. Because by reinventing the wheel and realizing in the course of work what mistakes you have made, you will spend a lot of time perfecting your abilities. And, perhaps, you will not find these errors at all, and will think why your work is not successful. A professional will immediately spot the mistake and point you to it. He will also tell you how to fix it and give a lot of useful tips.

And this is the minimum that classes with a professional will give you. Therefore, do not neglect the opportunity to master the art of art as quickly as possible.

2. Study literature

Yes, artists need to be taught theory too. You will have to read a certain number of books to get an idea of color, shape, harmony, and more. Here are a few books worth checking out:

1. Sketches and instructional drawing

This book, which covers the basics of teaching in classical art academies, will be very useful for aspiring artists. Sketching is more important for developing skills and improving technique than full paintings. The author outlined his experience in sketching in his book, and this experience will undoubtedly be useful for those who seriously want to master the art of art.

2. Color science and painting

This book will teach you about color scientifically. With its help, you will study and understand what is that, semitone, contrast and much more; what is the strength and peculiarity of color and what is color in general.

3. Golden ratio in painting

Harmony and proportion are very important in painting. Therefore, this book is simply a must-read. The use of the golden ratio is one of the reasons a painting can become a masterpiece.

4. Pencil. The art of technique

In this book, Paul Kalle explains all about his favorite tool, the pencil. If many people use a pencil to create sketches, then the American graphic artist chose it as a serious and basic artistic tool. Pencil mastery is the main indicator by which it is determined whether an artist is “good”.

5. Keys to the art of drawing

This book teaches you to trust your eyes. Drawing is about seeing the world with your own eyes, not trying to blindly apply rules in practice. The book includes examples and sketches, sketches and complex drawings, various drawing techniques and practical advice.

3. Learn to see the world through the eyes of an artist

Notice how shapes and colors change depending on the lighting, how the surrounding colors affect you. Focus your attention on how human bodies interact with nature, what structure what objects have. As the saying goes, learn to stop and breathe in the scent of roses.

4. Draw every day

You do not allow yourself, for example, not to breathe all day because you are lazy? Even if this is an overly unrealistic example, you should treat drawing as a vital process for you. Do you know musicians, for example, who can do without music for at least a day?

Throw away your laziness and draw daily as you improve your skills and pour out your emotions on paper. Practice is the foundation of everything.

5. Ask others

We tend to go to extremes: either idealize our work, or underestimate their quality too much. Therefore, the view from the outside is extremely important. Feel free to share your work with friends and family and listen to their feedback. Of course, you should understand that criticism should not be taken too close to your heart, and you need to be able to distinguish constructive criticism from simple envy of good work. Also, take into account the fact that people close to you can lie, so as not to upset you.

The best way out of the situation is to show your work to a professional so that he can objectively assess your level and point out mistakes.

6. Don't be discouraged if you can't find your style.

If you look at the work of great artists, you will find that the style of their work has changed over time. Therefore, of course, you don't need to give a damn about developing your own style and copying, but you shouldn't worry too much about the fact that you suddenly wanted to draw in a different style. Drawing style changes over the course of life, it depends on changes in your character and much more.

7. Study the work of the masters

Studying pictures painted by masters of art will help you develop your own abilities and broaden your horizons. It is also a good practice to try to copy a picture of a master. Add details that you feel are missing. In general, try techniques that great artists have used. It is possible that you will find your style this way.

8. Chat with artists

Communication with artists will again help you develop your abilities, your friends will be able to appreciate your work, and in the future, these acquaintances will help you to promote and sell your work. Today, in the age of the Internet, it is not so difficult to find artistic communities and join their circle.

9. Put meaning in your paintings

Don't just paint a tree or just a house. These kinds of plots are good for sketching. Your work should carry a meaning, a message, so put something more in your paintings than just a beautiful image. When planning to draw this or that plot, ask yourself “Why?”, Give a reasoned answer and only then draw.

It’s not just that. Great artists didn't just paint ten human figures and become professionals. They drew thousands of shapes, studying anatomy, body behavior and more. Therefore, there is no need to despair if after a year of practice you (horror!) Have not become a famous master. Remember that everything takes time.

We would also like to give a couple of tips for promoting our work:

1. Create a portfolio

Don't shove all your drawings into your portfolio. Select the best ones, those that best show your abilities, let there be few such works. And carry this portfolio everywhere. Who knows where you might stumble upon the person you want.

2. Create accounts on the relevant resources

Promote yourself on LinkedIn, Tumblr, and more. Let people know about you. Moreover, you may be discovered by some investors or potential buyers. Therefore, you should not neglect promoting yourself on the Internet.

3. Look for places where you can show your work.

Participate in competitions, find galleries where you can exhibit your paintings, take part in street exhibitions. Use every opportunity to show yourself. Even bars and restaurants will do. Chat with the owners of various establishments and offer your paintings to decorate their premises.

4. Try to strike up an acquaintance with the master

Getting to know an influencer in the arts can provide you with many benefits. Sometimes just the name of the master, uttered in a conversation with a potential investor, can greatly influence the decision. And the master himself can help you in your advancement.

Each of us in childhood dreamed of becoming someone, but not all dreams were destined to come true. By the way, how often do you want to take a pencil and draw something extraordinary? Or is your lack of drawing skills stopping you? In this article, you will learn how to become an artist, despite your age, and fulfill your childhood dream.

Everything is possible

You can become a master of painting at any age. This does not depend at all on whether you attended art school as a child, and what marks you were given in art lessons. Many professional artists say that everyone has a talent for drawing. But not everyone develops it and not everyone knows how. Special drawing courses, great desire and self-confidence will help you become an artist.

The first step towards becoming an artist is to try to draw something yourself. Now on the Internet there are special sites on which the process of drawing an object is described in detail. You can also watch video courses on drawing - and try to do what the artist's hand is doing on the monitor. Original talents that have never comprehended other laws of drawing, of course, are found. But you will achieve more if you enroll in painting courses.

Painting courses

Usually such classes are conducted by already established artists. At the same time, the age of students here is absolutely not limited, which is an undoubted plus. You will not feel constrained, because the same adults will gather around who have not held a brush in their hands, possibly since school days.

Together with them, you will gain valuable knowledge about the visual arts. Here they will not only teach you the correct construction of the composition, but also allow you to try yourself in working with different materials - paints, pencils, pastels and so on. In addition, the teacher often gives initial concepts about a particular style of painting, which is also very useful for beginners.

Artist courses have a huge advantage over self-study. Namely: you will be given academic knowledge in the field of painting. In addition, all material will be lined up in the desired sequence and also structured.

How to become an artist in a few months? This is quite possible if a master of his craft helps you in comprehending the art of painting. You can get basic knowledge in a few lessons. And believe me - the level of your drawing abilities will increase significantly. But you need to improve further. You can do this by regularly attending courses for aspiring artists. Moreover, their cost is quite democratic. And if in the future you feel a desire to connect your life with painting, you can go to study at an art school. Many of them have special groups for adults, in which classes take place in the evening. After graduation, the doors of vocational schools and higher institutions will open in front of you, where they teach fine arts.

1. Work hard and learn the basics of drawing(composition, perspective, anatomy / figure, color theory, volume / light, etc.). You cannot call yourself a knowledgeable artist until you truly become one. Ideally, you shouldn't just know these basics, but be fluent in them. And when you master, you will be not just a knowledgeable, but a confident and authoritative artist. This applies not only to beginners, but also to advanced and professional artists. Many experienced artists have weak points - for example, one can perfectly draw still lifes and landscapes, but in the knowledge of anatomy and the shapes of the human body, he may turn out to be zero. You can learn a lot by improving your basic knowledge and skills. I definitely have a weak point that is worth working on.

2. Broaden your horizons. If you love anime / manga, superhero comics, photo-realism, or any other specific art style, and have not yet tried or discovered other directions, styles, cultures and times of art, then you should broaden your horizons. ... A narrow vision is destructive and makes the artist a gray mass that is unable to go beyond the established templates. Mixing different styles and directions is much better and more interesting.

3. Don't be a thoughtless artist.
Think about WHY you are creating. Is drawing "cool stuff" and "hot girls" your only interest? Do you even have anything to say, being a representative of the human race, in this multi-layered society? Is everything you create is just mindless rubbish? If you are only working to the lowest level of satisfaction, never thinking about the higher concepts of intelligence and emotion, perhaps now is the time to dig deeper! You have a soul - so use it. It's not about just "digging" - it's about quality! For example, a movie masterpiece differs from a science fiction / fantasy / horror full-length and short film in how much love and soul the author has put into its script.

4. No need to copy reality- there is a camera for this. As artists, we have the power to stylize, emphasize, simplify, selectively detail, idealize, create abstractions and surrealism - it would be a shame not to use that power. It would be more pleasant for me to look at the work of an artist who left a footprint on the canvas than on a picture that is almost indistinguishable from a photograph. I am much more interested in artists such as John Singer Sargent, Joaquin Sorolla, Richard Schmid, Gustav Klimt, Nikolai Fekhin, etc. -realism, then work is work. But what is in your creativity?).

5. Polishing is the last thing to think about. Free or clear brush lines, sketches or simple lines - your choice. The internal structure and basic knowledge are much more important. Bringing to the ideal is an endless process that is constantly changing and developing. A good artist should be able to use different types of drawing work, and not take one and use only this method. Experiment more often with different methods and styles, as chefs experiment with ingredients in the kitchen. By following this advice, you will eventually be able to intuitively approach this business, and then you will be able to determine for yourself which technique is best to use when drawing a particular drawing on which you are working.

6. Naked practice is not enough- must be practiced wisely. Drawing scribbles in an album is not smart. You have to achieve what you do not yet know how, and not do what you can already do even with your eyes closed. Treat it like a scientific experiment with a clear plan that aims to achieve a specific goal. Analyze errors. Avoid wasting time on things that don't serve your purpose. Observe, analyze, and understand structures and schemes - the physical laws of our world (light, shadow, color, texture of fabrics, etc.), or create methods that bring the best results (using contrast in color, saturation, shapes with different edges, etc.).

7. Be realistic about your expectations. Rome was not built in a day. It takes years of hard training and smart training to become a pro. Having painted an album or two, you will not go one step higher - it takes a lot more for this. Artists do not just train, drawing dozens of heads, and then get excellent results - they draw hundreds and thousands of heads for years, and do everything deliberately - they study the structure of the skeleton and muscles, facial expressions, lighting conditions, age, distinctive features of each race, etc. etc. And that's just the head. The road leading to becoming an artist is, in reality, similar to the path of a creative search for oneself.

8. Learn to accept criticism. An artist who lives surrounded by people will always receive comments about his work, and if he cannot accept criticism, he will be a pitiful excuse for an artist. Think of criticism as essential to your development and growth. If both positive and negative comments are made to you, be grateful for them. The wounded ego must strive to become stronger and broaden its views. If you do not see beyond your wounded ego, it will destroy you. While you are still a beginner, you may not hear any more helpful advice other than “learn the basics!” And this is because of your level, whatever you do is not like that. Keep learning the basics hard and you will level up.

9. Be comprehensively educated. Explore the world you live in - history, politics, religion, economics, science, literature, music, photography, cinema, etc. You will be surprised how everything in the world is interconnected. The more you understand about the world in which you live, the better artist you will become. Maintain strong relationships because family, friends, and loved ones create vibrant emotions in us that we can use in our art. An intellectually and emotionally undeveloped person has little to offer the world as an art creator. Think openly, be sociable and educated.

10. You may or may not be an artist. People are different and not everyone has the ability to become an artist. If you do not have patience, are not assiduous, quickly lose concentration, are easily irritated, not motivated, not ambitious, do not know how to take negative criticism, but just want to draw for your pleasure and not be indebted to anyone ... etc., then you, most likely you will not succeed in life as an artist. And this applies to all people - not just creative people.

People are different, both physically and mentally, and we have different potentials and varying degrees of inclination to one or another activity. Having a penchant for art doesn’t mean that you’ll become a good artist - it all depends on you, your willingness to learn and grow, and how much you can filter out unnecessary things and focus on the most important things. And what is more important, you should enjoy the process of learning and your own growth. But if you hate every step it takes to do it, you may be feeding yourself the idea that you want to become an artist, but you are not quite the right fit for the role. Remember, wanting to be someone and being suited to the role is not always the same thing.

It's like some people stand on the sidelines, watching the dancers tear up the dance floor, and dream of doing the same - they also love to move their bodies to the music. But as soon as they really appreciate the efforts that need to be made for this purpose, they let go of the idea, because it is too difficult for them. Simply put, they want to, but they are not ready for it. And there are those who enjoy the process of grueling training, and whose passion goes far beyond simple desire, and they inextricably link this training with pain and fatigue, but they know for sure that in the end they will win - these are those who live the stage. The road to becoming a good artist is much the same. You must go through a path full of disappointments, mistakes, puffy eyes and calluses on your fingers, a long lack of progress, doubts about yourself and your strengths, overcoming hatred and envy of the talent and achievements of others, in order to eventually become the one I will look at. and say "wonderful artist!"

You need not just want something, but persistently move towards your goal. Or stay just an amateur, do this or that as a hobby, or choose something else that suits you better. This is not necessarily a bad thing, because you might as well find happiness just by enjoying the work of this or that artist, instead of trying to become like him. Because being an amateur doesn't involve any sacrifice or years of anguish and frustration, only to fail. Nobody will tell you if you can handle it or not. And you yourself will not know this until you go all the way. Some people take years to become worthy representatives of their cause, but they fall short and stop for one reason or another. For some, a week is enough to realize that everything is not as great as it seemed. Others came very close to becoming professionals in their field, but stopped, considering that they had achieved enough, and devoted themselves to other life goals (and no one said that drawing is the most attractive activity of art - there are many other interesting areas - music , directing, writing, cooking, fabric painting, etc.). There is no right or wrong choice here. You choose your own path, and as long as you feel that you are doing the right thing for you, you are on the right path (unless it hurts others).
