Berendei

Barbarian painter with sleepy brush
The picture of the genius blackens
And your drawing is lawless
Draws meaninglessly over her.

But the colors are alien, with years,
They fall off with decrepit scales;
The creation of genius is before us
It comes out with the same beauty.

This is how delusions disappear
From my tortured soul,
And visions arise in her
Initial, clean days.

“I am sure that our great ancestors are watching us intently from heaven. And the judgment of history is inevitable. For the future belongs to truth and faith. Great Russia, pre-Christian, emerges from scattered historical information and documents. From her great history, which was completely rejected and consigned to oblivion. Russian legends, epics, legends, tales - what a grandiose and colorful space for the artist's imagination and fantasy! Thank God that there were great ascetics and wonderful artists: Ryabushkin, Vasnetsov, Nesterov, Surikov, Vasiliev ... But there are few, very few names for such a large and powerful state, working in the field of the great and exciting history of Russia. "

Remember your name

Everything is born to praise
Giving life to creation.
The earth would not know vulgarity,
When I did not know vulgarity.

When would be the basis of the age-old
If we kept souls, we would live cleanly.
There is no vulgarity, as such,
There is the destruction of decency.

The Lord's creation will not grieve
And he will not scold nature.
And a man, forgetting his rank,
Hisses and grunts and barks.

For more than ten years now he has been passionate about heroic story our Fatherland, images of folklore. “How can you not notice the heroes of the same epics,” says the artist, “if they are even more mysterious than aliens: they clothe themselves with heaven, gird themselves with dawns, fasten themselves with stars ...

Under the weight of the Viev century.
Oh, if I suddenly lay back
Some seventeenth century.

With a fragrant birch branch
To stand under the Trinity in the church,
With boyaryna Morozova

And then on the woods at dusk
Drowning in dung snow ...
What a crazy Surikov
Will my last one write the path?

With the beginning of perestroika, book illustration had to be abandoned. Boris Olshansky became interested in painting. The theme of his paintings was Vedic times on the territory of Russia, the legends of the Slavs. Olshansky's bright, powerful historical canvases are invariably in the center of public attention at any exhibition. “The history of our land has interested me since childhood,” admits Boris Mikhailovich. - You can say it is in the genes. I have collected a wealth of material on this topic ”.

The illustrations by Boris Olshansky, made by him last year for the book "Legends and Traditions of the Tambov Region", were also very successful. This work of the artist was highly noted by the head of the administration of the Tambov region O. Betin and the deputies of the regional Duma. “I started to illustrate the manuscript of Sokhransky with pleasure,” says Boris Mikhailovich. - The manuscript was a discovery for me. I learned a lot from it. "

Now Boris Olshansky is working on the creation of new monumental paintings from the life of the Slavs.

Understanding this strengthened in me the desire to devote my work to history. I drew a lot from nature and from memory, which created a solid foundation for mastering academic knowledge. I do not agree with the opinion that a serious academic school fetters, if not even kills creativity.

Yes, for those who have not completed their studies, this is a stone on the neck, which pulls to the bottom, allowing you to see your imperfection. "

Autobiography

I do not give preference to fiction, not fantasies about the life and work of this or that person, but to specific autobiographical facts or testimonies of contemporaries.

Talking about myself, my life and paths in art, I set out the main milestones and facts. Although, of course, behind every sentence, and sometimes even a word, there is a large layer of events, images, impressions, sometimes fateful for me.

I believe that a person lives several lives during the period that is assigned to him from above. Childhood, adolescence, adulthood, old age - each period leaves an imprint on a person's idea of his place in this world. And the more spiritually richer we become, the more joy there is in our soul.

He trained in drawing and painting, drawing from life or from memory, but felt the need for an art education. By his own admission, such sketches and sketches were a solid foundation for future academic knowledge. Boris Mikhailovich believes that academicism does not constrain creative potential, as is commonly believed: “For those who have not completed their studies, this is a stone around their necks that allows them to see their own imperfection” (BM Olshansky).

In 1980, Boris Mikhailovich graduated with honors from the art school named after V.I. K.A. Savitsky in Penza and entered the Surikov Institute in Moscow, which he also successfully graduated in 1986.
