"Children's musical performances"

A children's musical performance gives a child a huge opportunity to reveal their talents, realize the dream of throwing out on the accumulated energy, find friends, understand their character and take another step in understanding the world around them.

A performance like this requires a lot of preparation. Therefore, it is necessary to accurately allocate time for preparation and rationally plan rehearsals. Having decided to prepare a performance, find yourself like-minded people among colleagues and parents. Let each of them contribute to the performance, take on any duties of actors, lighting, costume designers, decorators, choreographer, musical director, director, sound engineer and responsible for the expressive reading of texts by children.

A scenario has been selected, discuss it with your team, make possible changes and additions. Jointly develop sound and light scores, projects and sketches of future scenery, discuss costume options. In the same discussion, determine who will take on the role of facilitator, if one is required by the scenario, and who and how will fill in possible pauses and hitches. The presenters must be distinguished by good diction, have organizational skills, be charming, agree on the place where the performance will be shown, set the day and time for the start of the performance and the dress rehearsal.

The next day after the performance, get together, discuss how successful the performance was, mark the good places, try to kindly find out the reason for the failures.

ADULTS IN THE PERFORMANCE

Some roles in children's performances with the participation of preschoolers are taken on by adults. Usually, these are Moms, Dads, Wizards, Fairies, Baba Yaga, Koschey the Immortal, Goblin, King, Queen, Mistress in performances where children play Mice, Chickens, Butterflies and just children.

The choice of actors and participation in a children's fairy tale as actors must be taken very responsibly:

1) the candidate for the role should, if possible, match the image of his character (voice and appearance),

2) the chosen one must have artistic abilities, a good memory;

H) texts are memorized, especially should pay attention to dialogues and poetic texts;

4) songs and dances are taught separately, with the help of the music director and choreographer;

5) joint rehearsals with children are held only by those of them who are directly involved in dialogues, songs or choreographic numbers;

b) sometimes the participation of an adult character in mass numbers is required, then the numbers are learned by adults and children separately with music director and only a few days before the performance, joint rehearsals are held.

Adults should responsibly approach the preparation of a fairy tale: know the sequence of what is happening, their texts, and also be sure to know all the texts of children by heart so that they can be prompted at the moment of battle. A performance for children is not an exam, but an opportunity for joyful communication, the realization of one's abilities and an unforgettable experience. Of course, in the process of working with children on a performance, the number of prompts should be kept to a minimum, especially in the preparatory group. In general, it depends on the level of development of children and the systematic nature of their participation in such performances.

CHILDREN'S ROLES IN THE PERFORMANCE

According to the participation of children, performances can be divided into those in which there are roles (main and secondary) for both children and adults, and those in which only children take part. In any case, the choice of children for roles is one of the most important stages in preparing for a fairy tale. There are several options, and the choice of one of them is based on the experience of children participating in such performances. If the children have not participated in fairy tales before, then the teacher should distribute the roles. It is necessary to explain to each child who will be, and what it will mean for the child himself. Here you need to choose your words very carefully so as not to set the child against his future role, not to increase shyness and anxiety before “how will all this be? Won't I be funny and stupid? The child should feel that he is hoped for and it would not hurt him to work hard. If you can turn rehearsals into joyful creativity and the child likes such information, then his work will cease to be labor, but will become an interesting activity.

Another way to distribute the roles is suitable for children who have some "actor experience". You can invite everyone to try their hand at their chosen roles, if there are disputes on who to stop. And the rest of the children will name the one who succeeds, children rarely make mistakes.

Of course, offenses are possible. There are many ways to smooth over an unpleasant moment: offer other roles or play a role in turn, finding an opportunity to show a fairy tale more than once. Children who often took part in performances can be instructed to assign roles on their own. However, in all these variants, the teacher, at the level of cooperation, must, using his methodological skills, direct the activities of children.

If a fairy tale is staged on the basis of one group in kindergarten, it is important that everyone gets at least some role in it. Let it be a supporting role or participation in a choreographic number. Children should not feel lonely and unwanted.

In performances where all the roles are played by children, there will certainly be characters - adults: merchants, sailors in the fairy tale " The Scarlet Flower”, Mom Mouse, Pig, Horse, Cat, Cat in the fairy tale “The Tale of the Silly Mouse” and others. Children often play in the “house”, where they take on similar roles, so it will not be so difficult for them to cope with them in the performance, and the appropriate costumes will help the little artists get used to the character.

It's good if you have an understudy for each role. This does not mean that an understudy is a child who participates in the performance only when a replacement is needed. For example, entrust the child with two roles at once: one of the main ones, which he will duplicate, and a secondary one from crowd scenes, in which, if necessary, his absence will not be noticeable. Or immediately agree with the children on the alternate performance of the role during one performance (in parts into which the performance can be divided by intermissions) or on the exchange of roles at subsequent shows.

ORGANIZATION OF REHEARSALS

Now you know who will play which character. Make a list of the first cast, a list of the second cast. Develop a schedule of rehearsals individually for each actor (if necessary), rehearsals of the performance in separate pieces and joint rehearsals, which complete the preparation for the performance, appoint a general rehearsal in costumes with all sound and lighting effects, songs and choreographic numbers.

The last rehearsal must always be in costume for many reasons. Check once again if something will fall off the costume during the performance, if the costume will interfere and restrict movement Children see themselves in costumes in advance, which allows them to delve deeper into the image, not to feel constrained during the performance from the new, familiar clothes. In addition, children will not be distracted by looking at each other in an unusual way.

At all the last rehearsals, the children use the same attributes as during the performance. At the beginning of learning roles, attributes can be replaced by any items. A spoon can temporarily replace a flag, a broom - a gymnastic stick.

Rehearsals begin a month before the performance.

ROLE LEARNING

Children's roles are prepared in advance so that there are no extra tiring activities in a few days.

Learning texts with preschool children can be entrusted to the parents of the child. Perhaps the parents are very busy people, then you yourself will have to work with their child by scheduling additional individual rehearsals. It is good if someone is specially assigned to follow the learning of texts and expressive reading.

After analyzing the script, break it into separate small scenes, think over all the actions of the actors in this segment of the performance and their place in the mise-en-scenes (where the child will stand at a certain moment, where to look and what actions to perform). Rehearse the performance from these small passages, individual dialogues and even phrases. Do not rush - practice with children expressive movements, correct intonations.

Encourage children's initiative and ability to vary. This will help them not to get lost in case of a possible hitch during the performance and to show their individuality.

Vocal and dance numbers are also learned in advance and individually.

MUSIC IN THE PERFORMANCE

Children's performances acquire a special color due to the use of music and sounds in them. Songs and dances, as well as musical backgrounds in some performances, play at least important role than a word.

There are a number of rules and restrictions on the selection and learning musical repertoire with preschool children.

For example, each age group of preschool children, due to age characteristics, has its own range of singing. Children 5-6 years old can sing in the re-to 2 range. The sound of low sounds is more intense, therefore, when working with children, you should use songs with a convenient tessitura, i.e. songs that contain more high sounds, and low ones should be passing. Comfortable sounds for children 5-6 years old are fa-si. In this range, the sound is the most light, natural.

Most children of 6-7 years old can correctly intonate a melody within D-C, and purposeful, systematic work allows you to expand the range of all children (D-D).

When learning or repeating songs, be sure to start with chants and musical exercises.

Eliminate loud, hysterical singing. This can lead to a breakdown in the voice and even diseases.

What is a musical? Surely many people ask this question, because today this genre of theatrical art is the most popular in the whole world. It is a synthesis of drama, music and dance.

Genres of musical theater

What is opera, ballet, musical and operetta? These are all genres. musical theater. All of them have their distinctive features. But they are united by the fact that in all these works the main thing is music.

  • Opera. Appeared in the XV century in Italy. It combines music, word and stage action.
  • Ballet. Originated in France in the 16th century. This is a musical performance in which the plot is revealed through dance. And pantomime is used to express feelings. In the 20th century there appeared the new kind ballet - plotless. The dancers express only the character of the music.
  • An operetta is a comic performance. musical numbers here they alternate with verbal dialogues and dances. This is a much lighter genre than opera and ballet. It is believed that the operetta originated in mid-nineteenth century.
  • The musical appeared at the beginning of the 20th century. Music, dramatic art, dialogues, pantomime, choreography, songs are closely intertwined in this genre.

Musical

Let's take a closer look at what a musical is. The definition that characterizes this genre gives us an idea that it was born under the influence of several genres that existed before it: operetta, vaudeville, comic opera and burlesque. The musical is usually in two acts. This is a very difficult genre for both directors and actors. Artists in a musical should be versatile and be able to do everything - sing, dance, have dramatic talent. In terms of production, it is complicated by the fact that it must be bright, spectacular, with large quantity interesting stage solutions, with complex scenery, luxurious expensive costumes. Musicals abound with a variety of special effects. AT recent times it is very fashionable to use 3D technologies in performances of this genre. A musical is a commercial genre, since it is necessary to spend a lot of money on staging such a performance, therefore, tickets for it are not cheap.

How did the genre of the musical originate?

A genre that combines several other types of musical stage arts is what a musical is in music. The definition of this type of representation has developed not so long ago. Initially, it was difficult to separate the musical from the operetta. But over time, this type of performance has developed into a separate genre. theatrical art.

The birthplace of the musical is America. The first such show was shown in New York in 1866. It combined a variety show, comedy routines, romantic ballet, melodrama and dramatic interludes. The very first musical was Blackstaff. At first, this genre was classified as a musical comedy, since the performances were entertaining and did not have any special plot. The content was not given much importance at all. The main thing is to have fun, and at the same time, the numbers are performed by popular artists. Now in the musical, the plot is given great importance. In most cases, it is based on a literary work.

The difference between the musical and musical performances of other genres

How does the musical differ from its predecessors - operas and operettas? There are many differences between opera and musical. With the same operetta - a lot in common.

A performance where the actors playing the roles must master various vocal techniques from classical to jazz - that's what a musical is. Opera is more demanding on the vocal abilities of artists: in order to perform opera parts, a stronger and brighter voice with a wide range is needed. But, on the other hand, soloists opera houses sing exclusively in an academic manner.

A performance in which the actors must not only sing well, but also have dramatic talent. This is how you can answer the question "What is an operetta?". And a musical is also a performance, where the artist must be a good dramatic actor and an excellent vocalist. But, besides this, the artists here must dance at a high level. In the operetta, the actors also perform dance numbers, but less often and not as difficult. The musical contains various dance and vocal genres - jazz, pop, classical, rock, folklore. In operetta, as in opera, the manner of singing and dancing is academic.

Musical on Broadway

The development of the musical in America at the beginning of the 20th century was facilitated by such legendary figures as O. Hammerstein, J. Gershwin, L. Bernstein, J. Kern and others. Many of them are natives of Russia who went abroad during the years of the revolution.

Broadway musical show- What is it? The musical genre has changed somewhat by the middle of the 20th century. The libretto became more complicated, the requirements for vocal and acting skills performers, more attention was paid to choreography. Broadway became the trendsetter of the musical fashion at that time. The performances that were staged there in the first half of the 20th century are now considered classics. Broadway is a New York street that is 25 kilometers long. It housed 40 theaters. Broadway musicals are the most famous in the world. Until now, they are very popular. Spectators from all over the world go to America to visit the Broadway musical show.

What are theaters on Broadway? They differ from the standard repertoire. Broadway theaters are buildings that are rented out to show producers. There is no troupe here. For each performance, artists are selected through casting.

Performances go on daily. If attendance falls and earnings become less, then the show is closed and the troupe is disbanded. One of the main features of the Broadway musical is that it is created with the expectation of success and big profits. Some shows run in theaters for 20-30 years. But there are those who cease to be of interest to the public after a few weeks.

Musical in Europe

In the 50s of the XX century, the European audience got acquainted with the musical. But this genre did not immediately become popular there. At first, opera and operetta remained in the first place for the European audience. Nevertheless, the genre has taken root.

The first performance that managed to bypass the opera with the operetta in popularity was the production of “My Fair Lady” to the music of F. Lowe. Then there were West Side Story and Hello, Dolly! Today the musical in Europe is the most popular genre theatrical art. The borrowed American productions were replaced by their own.

What is a musical in Europe? It's different from Broadway. Here much attention is paid to the plot, which has under itself literary basis. This is far from a comedy show. The manner of performance in European productions differs from American traditions. The music is more complex, and it is not intended to amuse and entertain. Even the process of preparing a production in Europe is different from how it happens in America. The difference is very big. Today, the most popular European musicals in the world are the creations of the Englishman E. L. Webber, as well as French and Austrian productions.

E. L. Webber

Musical in Russia

In our country, this genre first appeared in the middle of the 20th century.

What is a musical in Russia? Initially, these were exclusively films in which the characters sang songs. It is difficult to clearly define what the exact genre of these films is - are they really musicals or would it be more correct to call them musical films? Why does such a question arise? Because they were quite deviated from the standards of a real musical. They were created according to their own canons. Nevertheless, there are also such Soviet films that can be safely called musicals. These include paintings:

  • "Mary Poppins, goodbye."
  • June 31st.
  • "The Island of Lost Ships"
  • "Ordinary Miracle"
  • "Khanuma", etc.

The first film shot in the genre of the musical was the picture of G. Aleksandrov "Merry Fellows", in which L. Utyosov took part with his jazz band. The Soviet audience got the opportunity to find out what a musical is. The music for the film is dominated by jazz, which is in keeping with the traditions of Broadway. In the future, the director made several more films of this kind.

In the 60s of the XX century there were the first attempts to put the musical on stage. Similar experiments were carried out by the Leningradsky Theater. Even the legendary West Side Story was staged here. In the 80s, the era of rock operas by A. Rybnikov came, which were staged by director M. Zakharov on the stage of Lenkom. The Star and Death of Joaquin Murieta, Juno and Avos had great success. The latter is still going strong to this day.

The 21st century was marked by the creation of such domestic productions in the musical genre as:

  • "Count Orlov".
  • "The Master and Margarita".
  • "Nord-Ost".
  • "Scarlet Sails".

Russian versions of foreign productions in Moscow

In the late 90s of the XX century, musicals based on the principles of the West began to be produced in the capital of Russia. Russian producers began to acquire licenses for the distribution of foreign performances. The actors are ours, the directors are from abroad. The Russian audience had the opportunity to get acquainted with the best shows peace. The very first such project was the musical "Metro". Its rental was a great success, which caused the fact that musicals created under foreign licenses began to multiply. After that there were Notre Dame de Paris, Romeo and Juliet, Beauty and the Beast, Cats, The Little Mermaid, etc. Since 2014, the legendary Phantom of the Opera by E. L. Webber has been running at MDM.

Russian versions of foreign productions in St. Petersburg

With great success, the Petersburg Theater of Musical Comedy picked up the baton of licensed productions from abroad. It all started in 2011 with Roman Polanski's Ball of the Vampires, which was a huge success. In 2014, the production was temporarily closed, and the audience is waiting for the return of their favorite performance. Now on the stage of musical comedy there is another legendary musical - "Jekyll and Hyde".

Auditions for roles in musicals

The selection of actors to play roles in productions of this genre is carried out in several stages. Artists must demonstrate their vocal abilities, choreographic skills and dramatic talent. Basically, professional actors are selected to play roles in the musical. But there are exceptions. There is such a thing as a "folk musical". A striking example of such a show is K. Breitburg's "Blue Cameo". What is a folk musical? This is a performance where a person who does not have a special education, but who has talents, can become a soloist. Anyone can take part in the casting of such projects. Talented nuggets take the stage with professionals.

This article discusses in detail the question of what a musical is. The definition of this genre is given at the very beginning.
