Julio Iglesias Jr.: “The most beautiful girls live in Russia. Once I even wanted to marry a Russian. Julio Iglesias Jr.: "It's never too late to become a father What inspires you

Childhood of Julio Iglesias

The future famous singer was born in Madrid. His father was a gynecologist, his mother was a housewife. The family lived in a dilapidated house, which has not survived to this day. Julio was the eldest child, his younger brother was named Carlos. Three years later, the family changed their address, moving to Benito Gutierrez Street. Iglesias lived there until the wedding.

From childhood, the boy was a wonderful athlete, standing out among his peers, and always strived to be in the spotlight. The family lived peacefully and happily. Carlos wanted to become a doctor like his father, while Julio dreamed of becoming a diplomat or a famous lawyer. Music was his hobby.

After graduating from school, the boy entered a Catholic college, where the head of the choir advised Julio never to sing due to a complete lack of ability. The young man switched to sports, became interested in football and achieved good results. Already at the age of fifteen, he became a substitute goalkeeper for the youth team of Real Madrid.

Nineteen-year-old student Iglesias, who studied law at the University, drove around in the latest Renault Dauphine and already saw himself as a famous Real Madrid goalkeeper. However, everything in his life changed dramatically. A year later, he lost control and got into an accident, injuring his spine, crushing his leg and injuring left side faces.

He was given first aid and sent home. Several months passed, and the young man stopped getting out of bed, his back hurt badly, and his legs were paralyzed. Doctors diagnosed a spinal cyst. The operation was unsuccessful, the sensation in the legs did not return, and Julio spent a year and a half in bed. Doctors advised to get used to wheelchair.

But Iglesias had other goals in life, and he decided to fight: at night, while no one was watching, he crawled around the room, trying to overcome the pain. After a while, Julio was able to stand on crutches and began to develop his legs. In order to better understand the processes occurring during his illness, he read many books on neurology. So the will could win serious illness. All that reminds of that terrible accident is a small scar on his face and a slight limp.

According to Iglesias, it was the hospital that made him a singer. Due to experiences, inactivity and insomnia, his musical talent began to appear: he studied the guitar, wrote poetry. All this was for entertainment, becoming a singer at that time was out of the question. Music turned his world upside down. It was in the hospital that he composed his first song, Life Goes On.

When Julio was 23 years old, he had already completely recovered and decided to complete his studies. The father sent his son to England, where he was able to improve his English and study at Ramsgate, and then at Cambridge.

Once, in the beer bar of the Cambridge airport, where Julio was relaxing with friends, he asked one of the visitors for a guitar and sang the song "Guantanamero", which tells about the unhappy love of a Cuban girl. Unexpectedly for Iglesias himself, everyone present listened attentively in complete silence, and then there was applause, which became his first "fee".

The beginning of the career of Julio Iglesias: the first songs and great success

In the bar where the future famous singer for the first time he performed a song with a guitar, he began to periodically perform, he sang songs by the Beatles, Tom Jones, Humperdinck. Julio soon met a French student named Gwendolyn Bellor, who became both his girlfriend and his musical success. It was to her that he dedicated the song with which he took fourth place at Eurovision. This success immediately made him famous throughout the world.

In 1967, Julio decided to still get a law degree, for this he again entered the University for the first year, but thoughts about a possible career as a singer and musician did not leave him. A year later, he became a member of the Spanish Song Festival and won it brilliantly. Columbia Records then signed him to a contract. This is how an unusual, unlike any other Spanish singer appeared. His hypnotic, enchanting voice immediately became recognizable.

Julio Iglesias - Nostalgie

It was clear that he would not be a lawyer. The father helped his son in the release of his first record. He put a lot of work into career development, and soon many of his songs became national hits. Several years passed, and Iglesias was already considered the first singer in Spain. He toured a lot abroad, performing songs in different languages, and conquered Europe.

The result of a creative career was the release of more than seventy discs, receiving many prestigious awards and music awards, the singer worked out about 4600 concerts all over the planet. Fashion for him does not pass today.

Personal life of Julio Iglesias

Iglesias has eight children: three from his first marriage and five from his second. He married his second wife after twenty years of living in a civil marriage, all their five children were present at the ceremony. When the singer was fifty-seven years old, he became a grandfather, daughter Maria gave birth to a grandson to the famous grandfather. The most famous descendant and continuer of the profession was

At the beginning of this week, a talented Spanish singer, the son of the legendary Julio Iglesias, Julio Iglesias Jr., flew to Moscow. We managed to meet a hot Spaniard and talk about family, creativity, crazy deeds, Russian girls and the secrets of a long and strong relationship.

Why did you decide to connect your life with music? After all, as far as we know, you had the opportunity to become a model or editor of a glossy magazine, for example.

I started working from a very early age. When I was 18-20 years old, I really had the opportunity to start a career in the modeling business. I tried a lot of things, but being a singer is exactly what I like most of all. Since I was born in creative family Music has inspired me since childhood. In fact, I have always lived in such an atmosphere.

Do you remember your first performance at big stage? What did you feel at that moment?

I first appeared on stage with my father. It happened during his tour of Japan. I was then no older than 9-10 years. I remember it was very pleasant for me to stand next to my dad during the performance. But I did not feel then the grandeur of everything that was happening. For me, as for any child, it was a kind of game.

What do you love most about your job?

I love the songwriting process and all the time I'm in the studio writing new album. But, if we talk about what I love the most, then I will say what to perform and make bright, interesting shows.

You are often compared to your brother. How do you feel about it?

Absolutely normal. My brother is a wonderful guy. I really love Enrique and everything he does. He's mine best friend and we never get bored together. Just recently we were together in Las Vegas, where we had a great time.

You are the eldest son in the family. Did you feel responsible for your younger siblings as a child?

It is a great pride for me to be the eldest son of Julio Iglesias. I have 5 brothers and the same number of sisters and I can say that we were always friendly in childhood. Of course, as an older brother, sometimes I felt responsible, because I love each of them very much in their own way.

Name three character traits for which your friends appreciate you, and three for which you scold yourself.

On the positive side: I'm very spontaneous, unpredictable, I have a great sense of humor, and I'm also a great friend. And from the negative ... Stop! Is there something wrong with me? (Laughs). But seriously, I often scold myself for being an incredible perfectionist and trying to make everything I do as close to the ideal as possible. Oddly enough, I can’t say anything else bad about myself.

What inspires you?

I draw inspiration from travel. I love nature in all its manifestations: mountains, rivers, animals. Yes, perhaps nature inspires me the most.

Which past idols would you like to meet and what would you talk about?

If I had the opportunity, I would like to meet Frank Sinatra. He was a good friend of my father and I would be interested to know about their friendship and what my father was like when he was young. Of course, we could not do without talking about music, I would really like to ask about the creative and life principles of Frank and his children.

By the way, about the children. In one of the women's magazines a few years ago, information was published that you were going to marry no earlier than 50 years old and wanted to have 15 children. This is a joke?

Seriously? Was I drunk that day? I must have drunk a lot of vodka before saying this. (Laughs) Actually, of course, I want children, but certainly not 15. I would agree, probably for two, but for this moment until you are ready to be a father. I'm already married, and maybe someday I really will have 15 children, but definitely not now.

You've been happily married for several years now. And before you get married, you and Shariss met for many years. What is the secret to a long and happy relationship?

Everything is very simple. Happiness is made up of elementary things. First of all, you need to leave each other the right to personal space. The second prerequisite is that you and your soul mate must have common interests. Thirdly, it is very important to understand and accept each other's work, and at the same time maintain trust. Learn to genuinely enjoy your partner's company and always find new ways to surprise. For a long-term relationship, choose a person with whom you will always have fun and try to make it mutual.

What attracts you the most in women?

Definitely a sense of humor. It is also important that there is always something to talk about with a woman and that it is pleasant to be in society with her. And she should also be understanding and interesting as a person.

How important is it for you that a girl is a good housewife, knows how to cook, etc.?

In fact, it doesn’t matter to me at all whether a girl knows how to cook or not. The main thing is that she be good in herself and kind to other people. I am much more concerned about the personality of the girl, and not some everyday issues. Maybe someday I will become wiser and change my mind, but so far such trifles as the ability to cook, I care little.

Which country has the most beautiful girls?

I can say with confidence that in Russia. All my Russian girls I know from Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Chicago and other cities are incredibly beautiful. Now, having once again arrived in your country, I am again convinced of this. There is just an incredible concentration of beauty here. Once I even wanted to marry a Russian girl. But my brother borrowed this idea from me, however, they have not yet gotten married with Anya.

In society, it has long been believed that Spanish men are the embodiment of passion and madness. Have you done any crazy things for love?

Crazy deeds? Certainly. I did a lot of crazy things. Specifying that these must necessarily be actions for the sake of love, are you hinting at my exploits in bed? (Laughs) Why are you interested in this? I'm married. Okay, joking aside, I prefer to do crazy things in sports. I love surfing and other extreme water sports.

Is it thanks to water sports that you manage to keep yourself in such great shape?

Oh, you think I look like an athlete? Thank you, I am pleased. Sport has always been an important part of my life and I try my best to keep it that way. I have good sports data. At one time, I had the opportunity to become a football player or a tennis player, but I chose musical career. But regular physical exercise It's one of those things that I really enjoy.

They say that in life you need to try everything. Are there things you will never do?

I agree that in life you need to try as much as possible. But at the same time, I can definitely say that I will never use drugs. I value my health very much and try to maintain it in every possible way. Taking risks, doing things that you like, enjoying life is certainly very important, but only if it is not too dangerous for your health.

Would you like to change something in your life?

Perhaps I would leave everything as it is. I have a wonderful wife, I do what I love, travel and do what I like. Everything is so wonderful, I do not want any of this to suddenly change.

- Julio, this is not your first time in Russia, what brought you to Moscow now?

Moscow this time became a transfer point for me. (Laughs.) From here I flew to Astana, where I had two concerts as part of a big festival. And now I'm going to Vitebsk for the festival "Slavianski Bazaar". I'm going to Belarus for the first time, I'm a little worried. I will present there a new single "Te extraño" ("I miss you") - a beautiful love ballad that my Russian friend Elena Yurova wrote for me. This song combines Russian and Spanish cultures. I think it will be close to Russian listeners. By the way, I became friends with Elena in Miami, over time she became my manager and introduced me to many Russian artists.

- What do you first of all notice in Russians?

The first is that Russians like to have a good time. They are very friendly, and the more they drink, the friendlier they become. It seems to me that Russians and Spaniards are similar in this. We also have a similar sense of humor and temperament. I have many Russian friends: Igor Nikolaev, Kristina Orbakaite, Alla Pugacheva and others. We get on very well in California. Igor Nikolaev even wrote me a song, which I perform at concerts with great pleasure. But among my Russian friends are not only musicians, but people of various professions.

- How do you like the cold Moscow summer? In Miami, such weather misunderstandings probably do not happen?

In fact, I am very calm about the cold, I spend quite a lot of time in Northern California, where it can reach zero degrees at night with 23 ° C during the day. So I'm used to the cold summer. I'll tell you a secret: I swim in a lake with a water temperature of zero degrees. This is probably why I look younger than my 44 years. And when I'm without clothes, you won't give me more than 18 at all. Oh, you blushed, sorry. (Laughs.)

- You really look very young, however, like your father. Is it genetics or are you doing something for it?

Genetics, of course. Everyone in our family is slim and beautiful. (Laughs.) Besides, I'm a vegetarian: I don't eat meat, but I allow myself seafood. I also love black caviar. I allow myself to drink, but I do not smoke. The main thing is that I carefully monitor what I eat and do a lot of sports. I am absolutely happy man because I live my life with only positive emotions.

- When will the three of you perform in Moscow - with dad and brother Enrique? It would be a mega concert!

Yes, we have repeatedly discussed this idea and, probably, in the near future we will arrange such a concert in Moscow.

- Your brother Enrique demonstrates a good knowledge of the Russian language at concerts and likes, according to Russian tradition, to drink brotherhood. Do you know something like this Russian?

At Russian parties, I always drink vodka and eat caviar, is this a Russian tradition? So, I follow it. And I also know a lot of Russian words: thank you, hello, how are you (Pronounced in Russian.). I even partially understand when they speak Russian in front of me.

- You are often compared to Enrique. Did you feel pressured by the fame of your father and brother?

Never! I grew up big musical family where everyone does what he likes, performs his own music. And I'm proud of what my father and brother do. There was no rivalry in our relationship with Enrique even in childhood. I don't think we ever fought as boys. Enrique is closest to me. He is not only my brother, but also my closest friend. We both love sports, we play tennis, football together, and just hang out, have fun.

- You regularly post baby photos on Instagram. Are you nostalgic for that time?

Until the age of nine, I lived in Spain, and then for our safety (there was a threat of kidnapping famous singer. - Approx. "TN") my brother and I were sent to our father in America. Of course, the happiest and most memorable time was in Madrid, where I spent my childhood. Despite the fact that my parents divorced when I was a child, they tried to surround us with love and care as much as possible. Memories of how we used to live in my memory happy family: how they walked in the parks, traveled a lot, went to watch football matches and played football with their father.

- Your father won the title of the most popular Hispanic performer on the planet. Has it given you any advantages in your career and life?

My father - wonderful person. It is a real blessing for me to be the eldest son of the most famous Spanish performer. I believe that I was passed on from him best qualities- Vitality and good character. The most important advice that my father gave me is to do only what you like and enjoy every moment of your life. I learned a lot just by watching him: how he relates to people, to his work, how he behaves on stage. Unfortunately, I don't see him that often - we both travel a lot. But when we meet, we have a wonderful time.

- Julio Iglesias Sr. has ten children, but everyone knows only you and Enrique. Do you associate with other brothers and sisters?

Of course, we are one big family: we are five brothers and five sisters. We meet regularly in Miami. The rest of the children are much younger than Enrique and me - they are only at the beginning of their life path. Everyone grows up in a musical family, and I wouldn't be surprised if one of them starts making music professionally soon and another Iglesias appears on the scene.

- Did you become a musician after having achieved success in other fields - were you a model and an actor?

I think that I was just lucky in life: while I was growing up, I had the opportunity to do whatever I wanted. And so I tried everything that was interesting to me at every stage of my life: I was a model, worked on television, acted in films, wrote music from the age of 18. It was a lot of fun and paid the bills, but I always knew that my main calling was music. Thanks to my father, music has been a huge part of my life since birth.

As a musician, I have traveled almost all over the world. Now I am preparing a big tour, which starts in early 2018. It will also include Russian cities - Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg.

- And what is your everyday rider, without which you can not do in life?

Bread and cheese is what I love the most! I can't live without these products for a single day. So as a rider, I'm a very simple and comfortable artist. (Laughs.)

- You have been happily married for almost five years. And before the wedding, they met with Shariss for ten years. Why did this girl fascinate you so much?

When I first saw my future wife at a show in one of the clubs in Miami, I was smitten on the spot, she is so cool! This is what is called love at first sight. I realized that I would not let her go anywhere. Sharisse is an incredible woman: smart, caring, very beautiful. My wife is a model and has her own clothing line. The secret of our long relationship is also that we are both on the road, so we do not have time to get bored with each other.

- Are you a romantic in a relationship? Can you give your beloved a million scarlet roses?

I'm not sure about a million roses, I think ten is enough. A lot has changed over the years. I used to bring flowers to my beloved, but now coffee and a piece of cake in bed. I think it's romantic too. I did, of course romantic deeds. But I'm afraid they're all too intimate, I don't want you to blush again. (Laughs.)

- You and Enrique grew up in a large family, but for some reason both of you are in no hurry to become fathers.

I really want children, and the more the better. But I understand that I must be ready to take on such a big responsibility. My dream is to be a better father. Not to say that my father was not at all involved in our upbringing, but still I really missed him as a child, as he was on tour all the time. I will raise my children myself, spend a lot of time with them. And for this you need to tour less and not wander around the world. I think that time will come in a few years. It's never too late to become a father.
