Watercolors by the artist Elena Bazanova. Part 5. How flowers bloom ...

A bouquet of flowering branches

White roses

How the flowers bloom ...

How do flowers bloom? ..
Gracefully, timidly, imperceptibly,
Caressing with the dawn of dawn,
Shaking off the sleepiness of darkness!

How do flowers bloom? ..
Stubbornly, quiveringly, freely,
Substituting the heights of the firmament
Stamens, pistils, leaves ...

How do flowers bloom? ..
The whole core, frankly,
Solemnly and ecstatically,
Delicate, divinely pure!

How do flowers bloom? ..
Having poured out the moisture of nectar,
Smell gratefully
For light, for water droplets

And they stretch with all the stalk,
Of all the strengths to the sky,
Justifying Nature's Purpose
In your destiny!

How do flowers bloom? ..
Living for a moment in the world
The sky, the sun, the wind are drinking
Before drawing the line ...

How do flowers bloom? ..
Worthily prolonging eternity,
And even after, fading,
Full of blissful beauty!

Everything in this world for a reason
And there is something to learn from him,
But in order to last in eternity,
There must be height in the soul!

“Despite the availability and prevalence, the watercolor technique remains mysterious and incomprehensible for many, both amateurs and professional artists... Despite the seeming lightness, this material, by birth associated with water, by its rebelliousness and spontaneity, creates many problems for those who neglect the need to patiently study it.

Starting the story about the technique of watercolor, you need to recall what, in fact, means in the dictionary sense "watercolor", since the key to understanding lies in the word itself.
In the article by O.V. Mamontova in the Great Soviet Encyclopedia we read: "Watercolors (French aquarelle, from Italian acquerello, from Latin aqua - water), paints (usually on vegetable glue), diluted with water, as well as painting with these paints."
"Water" is the first key word to pay attention to. In more in a broad sense, the word "water" means one of the four elements that exist in nature. From the spontaneity and unpredictability of water, combined with paints, and from the master's ability to control the humidity of the painting space, all possible options for understanding watercolors and ways of owning it arise. This circumstance also reveals the mood, temperament and character of the master in his work. "
“... I have been painting with watercolors since childhood, starting at the age of six, when I started going to the art studio. Painting with watercolors was not something special for me, because I always did it. "

“As it seems to me, I feel this material, it allows me to reveal its features in very complex pictorial tasks. It is this tension in work that seems attractive to me, to control the elements of water and paint is the most exciting and intriguing in watercolor painting ... "
“In my watercolor still lifes,” says Elena Bazanova, “I depict seemingly ordinary and familiar objects to everyone, and there is a particular difficulty in this. Every time I strive to see in them new image and create a new space in which they are located. My task is to create a living space of a still life, in which the viewer will see and feel harmony and rediscover the beauty of the surrounding world, through the sophistication of sharpened drawing lines, complex compositional constructions and watercolor techniques. What techniques do you still use?

Thanks to my education, I am proficient in a wide variety of techniques. Of course, I do not use all of them all the time; unfortunately, I cannot grasp the immensity. I love making drawings with soft materials, when illustrating books I often use ink, pen and colored pencils.

What is your favorite genre of still life? But what about landscapes and portraits?

Yes, recent times I work a lot in the genre of still life. I also paint portraits of animals. I'd like to do new series landscapes and work with portraits of people. So my plans are to expand the boundaries of the genre.

Still life

You have illustrated " Alice in Wonderland with". These works are not at all like your still lifes.

I do not consider myself one of the artists who constantly impose their style on the subject depicted, illustrated in the book. I move along the path of creating an image, based on the essence of what is the subject of the image or illustration. From this, various plastic solutions appear. The illustration should not create a barrier to the perception of the text, especially in a children's book.
