It turns out that cotton swabs can be used not only for their intended purpose. With their help, you can also draw, and in the process of creativity, develop children, remember colors, acquaint kids with nature, develop fine motor skills, enrich the child's vocabulary and many more useful functions are performed by this simple hygiene item. But first things first.

Unconventional drawing

In order to arouse children's interest in drawing, it is necessary to turn this process into a game or a fairy tale... At first, the child with pleasure then - with pencils and brushes. Time passes, and interest in drawing is lost.

To encourage children to be creative, you can offer them non-traditional drawing techniques. In such cases, it is allowed to draw whatever you want and how you want.

But adults always direct the child in some direction, so they can offer him certain types of drawing. For example, blotography, the basis of which is a sheet of paper folded in half and a few drops of paint. Or drawing with a candle, when first an invisible pattern is applied to the paper, and then the child covers the sheet with paint. The contours of the pattern remain colorless. Or drawing cotton swabs.

Pointillism

Drawing with cotton swabs can be called one of the types of pointillism.

Pointillism is a unique trend in painting, which in translation from French means "to write on the dots." Pictures of this kind were painted by many artists. For example, paintings by Georges Seurat are recognized as masterpieces. He is considered to be the founder of this technique.

Drawing with cotton swabs is not only for younger schoolchildren, but also for kids who are just getting acquainted with various tools for painting.

Pointillism for a child

Children are usually happy to welcome the technique of drawing with cotton swabs, since you can create the same picture in completely different ways.

  1. When working, you can take a template as a basis and fill in all the details of the drawing with dots of a certain color.
  2. It is possible not to fill in the entire drawing, but to make only the outline of the details with multi-colored dots.
  3. It is fun to add dots to ready-made drawings and templates. This option is especially convenient for very young artists: when mom offers to draw eyes to some animal or people, and it is also interesting to create snow or rain with cotton swabs.
  4. For children school age you can offer the creation of more complex works, for example, to reproduce a mosaic picture.

Drawing with cotton swabs for beginners

For children aged 1 to 3 years, it is much easier to paint with sticks than with a paintbrush. In order to interest the baby, you must first show him how to draw a beautiful line or put a point, then another one, and then a different color.

To conduct the first lesson, you will need the following inventory:

  • paint for painting, for example, finger or ordinary gouache, if there is no fear that the child will pull the paint into his mouth;
  • paper;
  • templates with black and white drawings or thematic pictures on which you need to finish drawing something;
  • a large number of cotton swabs;
  • palette.

A plastic palette is useful in order not to give the child a whole jar of paint at his disposal. Very often, children have a desire to use such an abundance of material for other purposes. On the palette, it is convenient to dilute paints of several colors with water and put your stick next to each. After everything is ready, you can start drawing pictures on some interesting topic with cotton swabs.

It is better to think over the topic of the upcoming lesson in advance, to choose suitable rhymes or riddles. Do not neglect in the middle of drawing, because toddlers 1 to 3 are often distracted. And they need a constant change of activity.

Pointillism for preschoolers

When working with preschoolers, it is worth paying attention to the story about the pointillism technique itself. It is necessary to give the minimum information that the drawing is created using separate strokes or dots of different colors.

It is advisable to prepare several paintings created using the pointillism technique, show them to the child in order to arouse deeper interest.

It is important that the paints cannot be mixed with each other. In this case, the distance from one point to another can be large, or, on the contrary, the points can be placed close to each other.

If you wish in the future, it is not necessary to use paints for drawing pictures using the pointillism technique; you can replace cotton swabs with markers, pens or felt-tip pens.

Age nuances

Each drawing technique has different secrets and nuances. Pointillism is no exception. There are some points to be guided by in order to get the most satisfying result.

  1. For babies in the first lessons, it is better to offer only one paint color. Pictures should be chosen as simple as possible: sun, apple or snow, rain.
  2. Older children are given more difficult tasks. The number of colors increases. This will allow young artists show your imagination.
  3. And older students can try themselves in the role of artists, creating whole paintings using the pointillism technique.

An example of one of the activities - "Rowan twig"

Drawing rowan with cotton swabs is an activity that can be done both in kindergarten groups and with children at home. It is aimed at introducing children to a new drawing technique, as well as arouse their interest in nature.

In the lesson, the child will learn how to depict a bunch of mountain ash using the pointillism technique.

For the lesson you will need the following equipment:

  • a bunch of mountain ash (picture or real);
  • red paint (gouache or finger paints);
  • templates with the image of a twig;
  • silhouettes of bullfinches.

The course of the lesson.

Unconventional drawing. Autumn

Drawing master class. Autumn landscape

Kokorina Elena Yurievna, teacher visual arts, MOU Slavninskaya average comprehensive school, Tver region, Torzhok district.

Purpose of work: a master class on drawing in an unconventional drawing technique is intended for children from 5 years old, educators, teachers primary grades and fine arts, teachers of additional education. The drawing can be used for interior decoration or as a gift.

Target: creating a drawing on the theme of "Autumn" using an unconventional way of drawing: using a cotton swab.
Tasks:
1) open space for children's imagination;
2) create a drawing using gouache, cotton swabs, and a brush for painting with stiff bristles;
3) development of creative thinking, interest in independent activity, fantasy and imagination.

Materials: gouache, a brush for painting (bristles # 5-# 8), a siphon water jar, a sheet of tinted cardboard, cotton swabs, a black wax pencil.

Children, getting acquainted with the world around them, try to reflect it in their activities - games, drawing, modeling, stories, etc. The visual activity, in this respect, presents very rich possibilities. In order not to limit the ability of kids to express their impressions of the world around them, the traditional set of visual aids and materials is not enough. The more varied the conditions in which the visual activity takes place, the content, forms, methods and techniques of working with children, as well as the materials with which they operate, the more intensively children's artistic abilities will develop.
Non-traditional drawing techniques are an impetus to the development of imagination, creativity, the manifestation of independence, initiative, expression of individuality. Applying and combining different methods of image in one drawing, children learn to think, independently decide which technique to use, so that this or that image turns out to be expressive.

Blue sky, bright flowers
Golden autumn of wonderful beauty.
How much sun, light, gentle warmth,
Autumn gave us this Indian summer.
We are glad to the last warm, clear days,
On the stumps of honey agarics, in the sky for cranes.
As if an artist with a bold hand
I painted birches with gold paint,
And, adding red, painted the bushes
Maples and aspen trees of wonderful beauty.
It turned out to be autumn, you can't take your eyes off!
Who else can draw like that? (Irina Butrimova)

Let's do it today and we will draw Autumn. For work, let's take a tinted blue cardboard - this way we don't have to set the color of the sky.
To begin with, we will take a wide brush with a coarse nap and ocher gouache and paint the autumn grass: making broad strokes from bottom to top.

Take a cotton swab, white gouache and draw tree trunks. Draw lines from bottom to top, placing them on different levels in height and width.

Guess what kind of tree we got: " Thin mill, white sundress " (Birch)
With another stick and yellow gouache, we will begin to draw leaves on the birches. (For each paint, I suggest taking a new cotton swab, as the cotton wool starts to creep in the water and beautiful prints do not work.)

Now we use green gouache, but there will be few such points, just to shade the crown.

Add brown spots.

White-legged birches,
Tights with strokes
Curly, tall
Earrings with amber.
Sparkle like coins
Glazed leaves
And they wave branches
Like girls with handkerchiefs. (F. Sokolova)
Let's finish drawing the trunk of the birch and add black strokes. You can use black gouache. But for preschoolers, this is a bit tricky, so I suggest using black wax crayon or black oil pastels. They easily leave a mark on white paint and do not run. To do this, draw along the contour of the white line and add small spots and twig lines. At the bottom, paint over the trunk more densely.

For older children, you can offer a black gel pen for drawing the trunk. The outline will be brighter and more expressive.

Let's paint the grass using brown gouache.

Add foliage at the bottom of the birch crown with yellow paint. We use the "poke" method.

We draw the second plan. To do this, take ocher and, in the same "poke" method, fill in small spots the distance between the foliage of the trees and the grass.

Shade using black gouache.

Now let's add some bright yellow spots.

The work is ready, you can insert it into the frame.

In golden decorations, the autumn forest again,
And the outfit was replaced by a sweet birch,
All her leaves were covered with gold,
At the top of his head to the sky in a blue kerchief.
You, white birch, are good-looking,
And in winter and summer, early spring,
The playful breeze is braiding the braids,
Delicate and cool, even naughty.
Autumn does not regret either silver or gold,
As an artist, autumn is rich in colors,
In golden decorations, the autumn forest again,
And the outfit was replaced by a cute birch.
